- There has been much discussion over this proposed townhouse development, and residents can formally be heard on the matter at a public meeting later this month.
- The current proposal consists of 60 stacked townhouses within four blocks, which is a reduction from the originally proposed 106 units within six blocks.
- Toronto Region Conservation Authority noted evidence of an aquifer beneath the subject lands likely to conflict with underground structures and below-grade parking originally proposed.
- As a result, 94 parking spaces will now be at ground level and located to the rear of each building, ensuring they won’t be visible from Main Street.
- The Stouffville Village Ratepayers (SVRP) group has been focused on this development for over a year, and implored residents to attend and participate in the meeting.
- “Council has often stated that no one turns up at these meetings,” SVRP said in a recent email. “Let’s make sure we don’t allow that comment to be made this time.”
- The public meeting will take place at 7pm, March 29, in Council Chambers at 111 Sandiford Drive.
- All comments made at the meeting will form part of the public record for inclusion in a future report going to Council concerning the proposal.
