- Local artist Matt Fasullo is a diverse creator working within and drawing from many creative realms, including music, filmmaking, sound engineering, and video games.
- Fasullo draws inspiration from his life and favourite singers, but film and video game scores have had a major impact on his work.
- His experience in the commercial and tech industries has also influenced his music, as he incorporates unconventional instruments and unique sounds into his work.
- Fasullo recently released “Video 99,” an ode to a past video store which draws on Stouffville nostalgia and personal experiences from his youth.
- While Video 99 touches on cherished childhood memories, Fasullo says the song also references generational trauma he has experienced.
- While passionate about his creative process, “there is nothing more fun than performing the music I make,” Fasullo told us. “There is a camaraderie on stage…It’s less lonely.”
- Fasullo’s goal for 2023 is to release a complete record. The album, called “Good Company,” will see five related singles coming out in the coming months.
- “It’s a record about me learning how to come to terms with who I am and be happy with myself and who I’ve become as a person,” Fasullo explained.
- Fasullo tells young and aspiring artists to focus on their passions and not be too hard on themselves. “Don’t worry about what everyone thinks of you and just focus on yourself and what makes you happy.”
