- Held on the last Saturday of May in communities across Ontario, the Stouffville Lions Club hosted their annual “Walk for Dog Guides” fundraiser on May 27.
- The walk began at Latcham Hall and saw community members and their dogs strolling through the streets of Stouffville.
- Led by the Lion’s Club flag bearer, participants walked off to dog-themed songs with sound donated by Stouffville’s own Most Excellent Productions.
- The dogs were greeted periodically by enthusiastic volunteers with doggie-themed takeaways, raffle baskets, water, and plenty of dog treats.
- Stouffville Lion’s President Carl Vanseader and his team has arranged the walk for the past three years.
- Raised funds support guide training and the process of matching dogs to individuals in need, which can cost upwards of $25,000.
- The event helps the Lions Foundation “fulfill their mission of empowering Canadians with disabilities to navigate their world with confidence and independence by providing Dog Guides at no cost to them and supporting each pair in their journey together,” their website explains.
