- The Whitchurch Stouffville Food Bank is currently seeking additional volunteers to help them meet ever-increasing demand.
- Stouffville’s Food Bank saw a record high of 152 visits in March, representing 503 total household individuals supported.
- New clients are also on the rise, and Food Bank projections suggest an increase of at least 30% over their 2022 yearly total.
- They have provided support to over 2,200 individuals to date, with that number expected to approach 5,000 individuals served by the end of this year.
- Volunteers are needed in the warehouse, packing food and providing client services, and on the purchasing team. Drivers are also needed for pickup and delivery of food and hygiene items.
- The Food Bank is open to clients twice a week thanks to a volunteer group of over 40 generous community members, and additional service expansion is in the works for 2023 and beyond.
- Volunteers must pass a formal background screening and training is provided. The Food Bank is ideally looking for individuals who can commit to at least one year of service.
