- Afro-Latino singer and songwriter Matt Wilson sat down with Bullet Point News to discuss his work and upcoming performance at Stouffville’s Ribfest.
- Wilson, a Buffalo, New York native and past Top 20 American Idol contestant, has seen his career take off since his participation on the show.
- “That experience has probably been the most life-changing thing that’s ever happened to me,” Wilson told us. “I’ve been afforded so many opportunities, I’ve gotten so many more fans…and it really taught me how to dream again.”
- Wilson is currently working on “Dream,” an EP inspired by his American Idol experience, and recently released the first single titled “Fighter.”
- “I think the main message of every song that’s coming out in the next couple of months…is to help [listeners] see there’s nothing you can’t do and to help them dream big,” he explained. “That’s what got me to where I am.”
- Wilson looks forward to performing covers as well as his own songs at Stouffville’s Ribfest this weekend. “I’m probably going to be performing tons of hit songs that you guys already love, so we can jam and just hang out together,” he said.
- “If you want to hear some great music, if you want to have some good food while you’re listening to that music, and if you want to see somebody just up there loving what they love to do, then you should definitely come to [Ribfest],” he added.
- Wilson will be performing Sunday from 5:00-5:45 p.m. on Memorial Park’s main stage.
