In an interview during his final day in office, Emmerson identified the Province’s potential regional governance changes and the need for succession planning as key factors in his decision to retire early.

The decision was made by a unit largely composed of temporary part-time employees and driven by concerns over officer safety, scheduling difficulties, and declining morale within the department.

Announced today by Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Paul Calandra, Jolliffe will take over the role following Wayne Emmerson’s departure on Nov. 29.
