The grand opening of Memorial Park’s skating trail will take place on Jan. 10, 2025, during the Mayor and Council’s New Year’s Levee.

A shared responsibility model was proposed with the Town managing major operational aspects like entertainment and vendor coordination.

The trail will feature a capacity of 250 skaters, accessible washrooms, and storage for the ice resurfacer, with concessions planned once a vendor is selected.

A flag raising and the purple lighting of the Town’s Clock Tower was driven by advocacy from the Markham-Unionville and Aurora-Newmarket CFUW Clubs, formally known as the Canadian Federation of University Women.

Stouffville is piloting design changes at the roundabout aimed at addressing unsafe behaviours by both drivers and pedestrians. The redesign has faced criticism for potentially increasing risks to pedestrians, especially in a residential area near schools.

The initiative is one of the Club’s largest campaigns of the year, with all donations benefiting local children. Donation bins will be available beginning Nov. 20 at the Town’s Municipal Offices, the Fire Hall, and various local businesses.

This Remembrance Day may be the second-to-last held at the Legion as the Town plans a new Memorial Park commemorative space for 2026.

One shooting took place near Reeves Way Boulevard and James McCullough Road, while another was reported at the north end of Durhamview Crescent. YRP believes they were targeted, however investigations are ongoing.

Needed to help address growing demand, the pool would be built next to the Leisure Centre’s existing pool. Design work is set to begin in 2025, with construction currently planned for 2027. 

Three ASE cameras will be placed along Hoover Park, two on Main Street, two on Millard Street, and one on Baker Hill Boulevard. They are expected to be activated in late Q1 or early Q2 2025.

Stouffville will ban the sale and use of all consumer-grade fireworks within town limits beginning early 2025. Professionally launched fireworks displays will still be allowed with a permit.

Utilizing recently expanded Community Safety Zones, ASE equipment will be deployed in stages. Authority has been delegated to Staff to decide on locations using a data-based approach and in consultation with local Councillors.
