The Lendery is a library of things providing free access to equipment, technologies, and experiences that foster learning.
A power washer, coffee urn, projector screen, bread maker, axe throwing kit, and various sporting equipment are some of the items already available.
“I’m really excited the new Lendery is open for our community members,” Marcia Friginette, Manager of Customer Service and Collections at the Library, told Bullet Point News. “We are looking forward to offering community members this new experience.”
If an item is checked in, residents may preview and check out Lendery offerings by asking at the Library’s service desk.
No more than two items may be checked out at a time for a maximum of one week.
Sporting equipment on offer was supported by a Canada Healthy Communities Grant, while other items were acquired thanks to donations.
Residents can submit a suggestion form to recommend new items and help Library staff prioritize future procurement for the Lendery.
While not happening yet, Library Staff plan on engaging residents for donations of usable items that can be shared with the community.
