The core theme of Matthew Trueman’s exhibit, “Voices in A Cool Wet Darkness” is our relationship with the landscape.
What is remembered of a landscape when we plow over it? What do we want to prioritize moving forward, and what is important to preserve from the past?
Trees are beings that have lived on the landscape next to us for hundreds of years, and have a message to communicate to us.
The exhibit will help you realize the complexities and the delicacies of a landscape, appreciate the living environment more, and make you take a second look at the trees around you.
Maybe you will be inspired to visit an actual forest, and experience the smell of the earth and the sense of interconnectedness and calmness that comes from being in a healthy forest.
The exhibit will be running at the Latcham Art Centre from Friday, January 20 – Saturday, March 4, 2023.
