- Mayor Lovatt has launched the 2024 Mayor for the Day contest, which is open to Stouffville students in grades 5-7.
- Applicants are asked to submit a 500-word essay or two-minute video detailing why they wish to be Mayor for the Day, as well as two proposals aimed at improving quality of life for area residents.
- The winner will be picked up from school in a firetruck, enjoy special access to Town facilities and dinner with Mayor Lovatt, and gain insights into municipal government and civic leadership.
- They will also open a Council meeting from the Mayor’s chair and receive a certificate recognizing them as Mayor of the Day.
- Applicants must have permission to participate from their parents/guardians and submit their entries via email by May 17 at 4:30 p.m.
- Entries will be judged based on creativity and the feasibility of their two proposals, and the winner will be selected by Mayor Lovatt and the Mayor for the Day committee.
