- In its current form, Bill 23 – the More Homes Built Faster Act, 2022, will cause a 52% increase in taxes for Stouffville residents over the next 4 years to cover the cost of development.
- Mayor Iain Lovatt wrote a letter to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing with a possible solution but the Minister has not responded.
- The Mayor stated that there is enough land in Stouffville’s whitebelt area for new development but development will occur on the Greenbelt because it is the decision of the province.
- All signals from the province show that they are moving forward with Bill 23. Will protests change the legislation?
