Stouffville is advancing plans for two new parks in its southeast corner, adding nearly two hectares of public space for residents in Ward 3 and Ward 6. As designs take shape, the Town has scheduled a pair of public meetings to present early concepts and gather community feedback.
A larger park at 185 McKean Drive was approved through the 2025 capital budget, with $2.25 million allocated to the project. The 16,000-square-metre site, located at the corner of McKean and Yakefarm Boulevard, is being considered as a multipurpose space with a wide range of potential amenities.
“The park is envisioned as a multi-use destination that supports recreation, social connection, and outdoor enjoyment for residents of all ages,” the project website states. In addition to open green space, possible features include a playground, splash pad, seasonal rink, sports courts, walking trails, outdoor fitness equipment, and seating areas.
Conceptual designs have been developed and will be shared for review during an April 2 public meeting at 19 on the Park, scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m. Landscape Planning Limited has been retained to lead the design process, with Town Staff overseeing the project.
A second, smaller parkette at 330 Busato Dr. has been identified as a key 2026 capital initiative by the Town and carries a project budget of $475,000. Initial design work was completed last year, and Staff are now seeking community input.
The 3,000-square-metre site, located on Busato between Red Blossom Court and Seedling Crescent, is intended to serve as a local gathering space. According to the project page, it “will provide a welcoming outdoor space for residents of Ward 6 and the surrounding community” and is “envisioned as a vibrant and accessible gathering space that supports active living and neighbourhood connection.”
The Busato Drive Parkette meeting will be held at 19 on the Park on Wednesday, March 25, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Attendees will have an opportunity to see preliminary designs and provide feedback on proposed features, which include a playground, pathway connections, and seating areas.
Following each session, an online survey will be posted to the project websites asking for further comment. Feedback collected through the meetings and surveys will help guide design refinements as the Town and its consultants move toward construction.
