Stouffville’s holiday season is in full force this weekend, with a trio of festive family events set to draw families downtown.
The annual Santa Claus Parade returns to Main Street on Saturday night, bringing illuminated floats, music, Christmas cheer, and a visit from Santa himself. The celebration begins at 6 p.m., travelling east from Ninth Line to Park Drive.
To accommodate the parade, Main Street will be closed from Mostar Street to Stouffer Street between 2 and 9 p.m. on Saturday. Additional closures include Park Drive from Main Street to Burkholder Drive and on Burkholder Drive from Franklin Street to Booth Drive.
The Town is asking residents to stay behind the curb, follow instructions from event marshals, and bring letters for Santa, which will be collected along the way.
Dec. 5 marks this year’s opening of the Memorial Park Skating Trail, where lights and music add seasonal excitement to the ice. Open from 6 to 9 p.m., community members can skate their first laps of the year tonight. The trail will then operate daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., weather permitting, offering families a fun and convenient way to embrace and endure the colder months.
On Sunday, the Stouffville Library adds its own touch of cheer with a free Holiday Storytime event from 1 to 1:30 p.m. The drop-in program, part of the Town’s 12 Days of Cheer, features stories, songs, and rhymes for all ages.
