- 11-year-old Stouffville resident, Sawyer Nicholson, has beaten grown men and women in races! Her father, a former runner, rides his bike beside her in order to keep up!
- Sawyer said there are no secrets to her speed. She breathes through her nose, stays calm, focuses, and remains mentally tough so she doesn’t quit in the middle of a race.
- Before a race she tries to stay positive and doesn’t overthink. The day of the race, she pushes all her nerves to her feet so she runs faster.
- If we want to run fast, she says we need to put in the work, want to do it, be strong when running in the race, and do not stop when it starts hurting.
