- With their last game played on January 6, the Spirit got back to work on January 20 in a close home bout with the Leamington Flyers.
- Goals were scored by Peter Kioussis, Myles Yearwood, and Julian Demiglio, but the team suffered a 4-3 overtime defeat.
- Things turned around in dramatic fashion the following day, as the Spirit dominated the North York Rangers in an 8-0 away win.
- Yearwood had a hat trick, securing the Player of the Game belt, and keeper Stephen Toltl celebrated a shut-out performance. They outshot the Rangers 48-24.
- The Spirit returned to North York yesterday for an afternoon rematch, bringing home another high-scoring victory.
- Goals were scored by Kioussis, Nolan Jackson, Danny Thomakos, Cam Kosurko, and Riley Pope. University of Vermont commit Andoni Fimis had two and an assist, earning him the Player of the Game belt.
- Five conference points were gained in just three games, but the team remains in ninth place in the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s East Conference.
- Now sporting a 19-15-4 record, they are just two points behind the Lindsay Muskies and the conference’s final playoff spot.
- The Spirit face the West Conference Burlington Cougars on Friday night in an away matchup at 7:30 p.m.
- They will then host the Toronto Jr. Canadiens at home on Saturday night. The puck drops in the Stouffville Arena at 7:30 p.m., and the team is supporting the Lions Club of Stouffville through their game-time fundraisers.
