• GO trains on the Stouffville Line will be replaced by buses on March 22-23, with service changes beginning Friday night.
  • No GO service will be available at Milliken, Agincourt, and Kennedy GO stations during the bus-replacement period.
  • Route 71C and 71E buses will provide alternative travel options, with different stops along the Stouffville corridor.
  • The service disruption supports construction of the East Harbour Transit Hub, which will improve connectivity and ease congestion at Union Station.
  • Schedule adjustments for the Stouffville Line are also planned, and travellers are advised to check schedules before departure.

Stouffville GO Transit riders heading into Toronto this weekend will experience service changes starting Friday night, and buses will replace trains entirely on March 22-23. No GO Transit service will be available at Milliken, Agincourt, and Kennedy GO stations during the bus-replacement period.

Service changes begin with late-night trains on Friday, March 21. The 10:12 p.m. train from Union Station will be extended to serve the Stouffville and Old Elm GO stations, while the 12:12 a.m. northbound train will be replaced by GO bus Route 71C.

That bus route will run directly from the Union Station Bus Terminal to Unionville GO, then make stops at Centennial, Markham, Mount Joy, Stouffville, and Old Elm GO stations.

On Saturday and Sunday, Route 71C will provide both southbound and northbound service for Stouffville residents. Bus Route 71E will also be in operation but will only stop at Mount Joy, Markham, Centennial, Unionville, and the Union Station Bus Terminal.

The service adjustment period will support construction of the East Harbour Transit Hub. Located between Eastern Avenue and the Don Valley Parkway, the station will be a key interchange for the Ontario Line, Stouffville Line, Lakeshore East Line, and the TTC. The hub is expected to accommodate more than 100,000 passengers daily and reduce rider reliance on Union Station by an estimated 14%.

“We are also continuing to increase track capacity by making sufficient space for a fourth track, improve operational flexibility for Metrolinx trains, and reduce the long-term maintenance costs of the Birchmount bridge structure,“ Metrolinx stated.

For riders transferring to the Route 70 bus, connection times will also be adjusted. More information on routes and connection changes can be found on the GO Transit website.

Metrolinx has also noted that minor schedule adjustments are being put in place until April 14 due to ongoing track maintenance. Stouffville GO schedule changes of up to 12 minutes will also be implemented on April 5. Travellers are encouraged to check schedules and plan ahead.
