Looking to support Main Street businesses set to lose waste collection services next year, Stouffville’s Council endorsed, in principle, a shared drop-off model for garbage collection in the Downtown core.

The Greater Stouffville Chamber’s 2025 Annual Dinner offered a night of connection, community recognition, and strategic reflection. Keynote speaker Mayor Iain Lovatt and Chamber leadership outlined shared goals and recent achievements amid broader challenges.

Four teams presented their storefront proposals at the Stouffville Village Small Business Challenge finale, competing for a prize package of up to $50,000. The winner will be announced in June at the Greater Stouffville Chamber’s Annual Dinner with the Mayor.

Stouffville businesses that have relied on municipal waste collection for decades will need to secure private services by 2026, though Council may carve out an exception for Downtown Main Street.

The Greater Stouffville Chamber of Commerce initiative recognizes local pioneers who have played pivotal roles in shaping the town’s business community.

Councillor Sue Sherban is collaborating with the Village of Stouffville to host the Nov. 21 event, which is aimed at fostering stronger ties between residents and local businesses.

The 2024-2027 Agriculture and Agri-Food Sector Strategy focuses on three main pillars: promoting business and innovation, fostering a resilient local agri-food chain, and enhancing community outreach and education.

Applications are now open for the Stouffville Village Small Business Challenge, which will offer up to $50,000 to one winning business plan to be executed through a Downtown Main Street storefront.
