- The Stouffville Market’s opening day began at 9 a.m. this morning.
- Lead organizer Susan Tucker was joined by fellow volunteer organizers, Mayor Lovatt, and Town Staff to cut and distribute a ceremonial cake.
- This is Tucker’s second year heading the Market, and she had coffee and cupcakes on hand for vendors and early risers.
- With live music playing and residents filling the 6240 Main St. parking lot, The Market was packed by 10 a.m.
- The number of vendors has more than doubled over last year, with 45 tents set up for opening day.
- Beyond the number of merchants, Tucker is also excited about the diversity of goods on sale this year. “We’ve got clothing, we’ve got gifts, we’ve got food, we’ve got art…We’ve got everything.”
- “It’s a beautiful day, lots of vendors, and a chance to support local,” Christina Assenza, owner and head chef of Christina Cooks Catering Company, told us.
- Christina Cooks makes fresh pizzas at the Market once a month, which tend to sell out quickly. “We’re grateful, grateful to be busy. Thanks for the support, everybody!”
- The Market is always looking for volunteers, Tucker told us, and hours can be recorded for secondary school students. Just send them an email.
- The 2023 Stouffville Market is open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays from May 13 to October 14.
