Resident will gather in Memorial Park tonight for Stouffville’s annual Victoria Day fireworks celebration, officially launching the Town’s 2026 seasonal programming and the return of the Stouffville Celebrates Summer Series.
Memorial Park will again serve as the hub for many of the community’s major gatherings, as the Town prepares for another summer filled with free entertainment, festivals, concerts, and family programming.
Drivers should note that Burkholder Street and the north entrance to the Leisure Centre will remain closed through noon on Saturday, May 16. The Town posts road closure notices and event-related updates online throughout the season.
On May 23, families can visit the Leisure Centre from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the Summer Camps Open House. Parents and children will have an opportunity to meet staff, participate in activities, and learn more about seasonal recreation programs ahead of summer break.
That same morning, the Town’s Operations Centre on Bethesda Side Road will host a Public Works Open House from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Residents can tour municipal vehicles and equipment while learning more about the department’s day-to-day operations, which we covered before last year’s event.
Doors Open Whitchurch-Stouffville returns June 6 for its 22nd year, inviting residents to explore historic buildings, cultural spaces, and community landmarks through guided tours and exhibits highlighting the community’s heritage and development.
On June 21, Memorial Park will host the fourth annual Stouffville Main Street 5K and Kids 1K Dash in support of the Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation. The event welcomes both recreational and competitive participants, and registration is now open.
The Strawberry Festival follows, running June 26 through 28 and bringing three days of food vendors, live entertainment, and family activities back to Memorial Park. Operating for more than 40 years, the event remains one of the community’s signature summer traditions. More information and volunteer opportunities are available on the Festival website.
Canada Day celebrations will take place on July 1, beginning at 5 p.m. in Memorial Park. Residents can once again expect food vendors, live entertainment, and fireworks to cap off the evening.
One of the season’s largest events, Stouffville Ribfest, returns August 7 through 9 with barbecue vendors, food trucks, breweries, marketplace exhibitors, rides, and live entertainment planned throughout the weekend.
Canadian country artist Dan Davidson will headline Friday night alongside opening act Tedy. On Saturday, JUNO Award-winning pop artist Rêve will take the stage, joined by CON THE ARTIST.
The season will also include the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum’s 53rd Annual Antique & Classic Car Show on August 9. The long-running event regularly attracts hundreds of vintage vehicles and thousands of visitors, alongside live entertainment, exhibits, food vendors, and family activities.
Additional Memorial Park events include Art in the Park, hosted by Latcham Art Centre on June 13, showcasing local artists and creators. Symphony Under the Stars will see Kindred Spirits Orchestra perform from 8 to 10 p.m. on July 17, and Movies in the Park is also scheduled to return July 24 and August 14.
The Town is also introducing a new sports-themed initiative called Game On, Stouffville. Residents will be invited to watch Team Canada’s opening FIFA World Cup match on June 12 in Civic Square, with another viewing planned for a July 1 playoff match ahead of the Canada Day festivities.
“The Stouffville Celebrates Summer Series is all about bringing people together and enjoying everything our community has to offer,” said Mayor Iain Lovatt in a recent release. “These free events create opportunities for residents and visitors to connect, share experiences, and enjoy a lively, welcoming atmosphere throughout the summer.”
The summer event calendar concludes September 12 with the Fire Department Open House at Station 5-1, running from 10 a.m. to noon and offering residents an opportunity to meet local firefighters and explore emergency vehicles and equipment.
