• Councillor Sue Sherban is collaborating with the Village of Stouffville to host the fourth annual Ladies Night.
  • The Main Street event is scheduled for Nov. 21 from 5 to 9 p.m.
  • A range of discounts, samples, giveaways, and holiday specials will be offered by 17 local businesses.
  • Tickets for Ladies Night are $10, with all proceeds benefiting the Whitchurch Stouffville Food Bank.
  • Sherban hopes the event will foster stronger ties between residents and local businesses and work toward driving greater community engagement with the Downtown.

A primary goal for Stouffville’s Downtown is to establish the area as a cultural destination. For Sherban, a key part of that objective is encouraging connections between local businesses and residents, which inspired her involvement in organizing Ladies Night.

“Right now, residents might make a quick stop at Redefined Finds, or visit Mulligans, but too few visit the area to stroll, casually shop, or see the strip as a regular community gathering space,” Sherban said. “That is the kind of pattern we want to create, and once we do, it becomes repeatable.”

Recently secured grant funding through the My Main Street Community Activator program will be used to further the Downtown as a cultural hub. The project’s intent is “to enrich daily life in Stouffville, attract visitors, support local businesses, and foster a stronger sense of belonging and pride among residents.”

Looking ahead, the Town hopes that capital projects like Main Street Reconstruction and the expansion of Civic Square will create a more appealing public realm. For now, Sherban hopes events like Ladies Night will serve as a short-term driver to attract greater community engagement.

Bullet Point News recently met with her and Charlotte Cave, owner of Chic Thrills, to discuss the upcoming event.

“All of these small businesses support our community, they support our local sports teams, they are go-tos for local sponsorships,” Sherban said. “They are a part of our community and deserve our support. It’s up to us to get down here and give back when we can, and Ladies Night is a great opportunity for exactly that.”

Seventeen businesses will be participating, ranging from retailers to restaurants. Discounts, samples, giveaways, and holiday specials will be available, and participants like Chic Thrills will be serving food and beverages to attendees.

“We just hope this event encourages more residents to visit the Downtown and take a look at our shops,” Cave told us. “Especially newcomers to Stouffville who may not be familiar with all the businesses here in the Village.”

Chic Thrills is also planning to offer wish lists for Ladies Night participants. Visitors can check out products, create their list, and pass it on to their spouse or significant other for holiday shopping.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Redefined Finds, Stouffville IDA, Fickle Pickle, Corner Spa and Wellness, Red Bulb, Ann’s Fabric, and North and Co. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Whitchurch Stouffville Food Bank.

Other participating businesses include Back Alley Moto Cafe, Pimento Jerk, Chilli Coriander, Nock Academy, Saints Island Pies, AGI Kitchen, Birkett Hassard, Mulligans, and True Path Yoga. Sherban will also have a station set up at Stouffville Picture Framing.

The first 60 ticket holders will receive a Village of Stouffville Christmas ornament, and all will be entered into a draw for a gift basket filled with products from participating merchants.

“All of this is to build community relationships between residents and our local businesses,” Sherban added. “It’s a unique shopping experience that also helps us support the heritage core of our community.”
