Mary Georgopoulos is a proud mom of three, an ecstatic grandmother of three who has helped with Magna Hoedown, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, AIDS committee of York, Welcoming Arms, Welcome Table.
Inspired by her father who came to Canada with nothing, giving back is so important for Mary because she knows what difference a helping hand and small acts of kindness can make in a person’s life.
Mary thinks that for youth, volunteering is worthwhile because of the experience, the people they will meet, and how good they will feel about themselves – which you can’t put a price on.
She is working on a fundraiser for Salvation Army to raise money for therapists that offer free services for individuals who are struggling with mental health, and a fundraiser for Abuse Hurts – an organization that helps people escaping domestic violence.
