- The second annual Stouffville Main Street 5k was a Father’s Day success, attracting over 1,300 community members to the event.
- Runners and walkers began and completed their 5k route in Memorial Park, following a course looping between Mostar and Main and Park and Hoover Park.
- For younger participants, a Dash Course involved a lap around Park Drive between Burkholder Street and the Leisure Centre.
- This fundraiser aims to boost awareness and support for the Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH) and its vital services.
- $113,245 was raised for MSH, just shy of last year’s $118,000 mark.
- Donations are still being accepted until the online fundraising portal closes on July 1, 2024.
In a press release this week, MSH emphasized both the evolving landscape of healthcare and the region’s diversity and rapid growth. They pointed out that government funding alone cannot cover all of the hospital’s needs, highlighting the crucial role of community events and fundraising initiatives.
“Generous community support is essential for Markham Stouffville Hospital to be able to remain on the cutting-edge of patient care,” said Suzette Strong, CEO of the MSH Foundation, while expressing gratitude to Mayor Lovatt and the Town. “Our hospital can only thrive with the help of the caring spirit of its community.”
