- On top of York Region’s transportation budget, a 1% tax has been levied to fund the Yonge Street subway extension.
- The 2023 Provincial Gas Tax also injected over $17 million into the Region to support York Region Transit (YRT) operations.
- Aside from Route 9 and School Special routes, YRT’s Mobility On Request program provides transit to just five Stouffville locations within a limited service area.
- Town Staff requested additional service to accommodate growth at a meeting with YRT last April, however YRT staff deferred beyond 2023 noting growth is still years away.
- Staff also expressed an ongoing desire for YRT service to destinations outside of Town boundaries.
- YRT will be conducting consultations for their 2024 Transit Initiatives this spring where residents can advocate for further service improvements.
