April 13 is International Plant Appreciation Day, and Stouffville’s gardeners and plant lovers have plenty of reasons to celebrate.
“I appreciate the connection to nature when watching a plant’s cycle of life,” says Erin Travis, owner of Budding Gems Garden Design & Foodscaping. “From seed to bloom, plants provide beauty and nutrition while offering support for all types of life.”
“Plants force you to stop and focus on the moment,” explains Stouffville gardener and vegetable grower Adrianna Tracz-Rogers. “Each year may result in different challenges, but learning and being flexible and patient are great skills to practice.”
“There is nothing like the satisfaction of eating your own produce,” Tracz-Rogers added.
Houseplants offer their own special set of benefits. “[They] are natural air purifiers, and, on a more aesthetic note, they are a great spirit lifter,” says Jodi Laye, owner of Stouffville Florist.
With Spring in full effect, today is the perfect day for Stouffville residents to breath in some fresh air, get their hands dirty, and show their appreciation for plants.
