- Joined by coach and biology teacher Kim Neill, five Stouffville students from SDSS took part in Envirothon 2023 training at Toronto’s York University on April 19.
- Led by Forests Ontario, Envirothon is an environmental competition for high school students. This year’s theme is “Species at Risk.”
- Focused on environmental science activities and workshops, SDSS students learned how to monitor soil and water quality and identify plant and bird species found here in Stouffville.
- The students were “completely immersed” in hands-on learning experiences, Neill told Bullet Point News.
- They were also able to meet with environmental scientists who helped them see what it was like to be a scientist for the day.
- According to Neill, the students found the day of training interesting, inspiring, and well worth attending.
