What does a School Board Trustee do for the people of Stouffville?
School Board Trustee is primarily a liaison role – helping link the School Board to the parents/families who have children that attend schools in district. The trustees most important role is to represent the concerns & issues of parents at the Board Table.

Why would you be good at this job?
Trustees have no individual authority because decisions are made by Board as a group. A trustee with strong negotiation, debate & consensus-building skills can serve as a strong influencer & affect group voting decisions. That’s what I’d bring to the role.

What issues are you concerned about?
I’m passionate about Parents Rights. I’m making Community Outreach a big part of my campaign. I want to hear from Stouffville parents about what’s on their minds & important to them. One thing on my radar is student’s learning recovery & socialization-adjustment after covid restriction isolation. I’m interested to hear if bussing is an issue based on rural areas of Stouffville & how parents feel about any new covid restrictions down the line. Also, a more general issue I’m personally concerned about is politicization of the school environment & loss of school as ‘neutral educator.’

Why should the people of Stouffville share your concerns?
I stand for Students First. Every board decision should serve the best interests of all students. Parents are share-holders in their child’s education. Parents are busy & during covid were blocked access from school, many haven’t had full transparency for extended time. I believe parents have right to know what’s being taught & the environment it’s taught in. If parents value merit-based academics, fairness for all, critical thinking & free speech, they need to be aware of the prevailing culture at school. I want parents to be informed & empowered to speak up if they have any issues with the school environment.

Describe what a successful term with you as School Board Trustee would accomplish?
A successful 4 year term for me as School Board Trustee would be that at the end of it, parents in the community felt I did a fantastic job representing their most important concerns for their child’s education & well being at the Board. That I solved problems & brokered fair solutions & had a positive impact on the strategic direction of the Board.
