What does a Mayor do for the people of Stouffville?

A Mayor’s mission is to serve the needs of the Town’s residents and businesses and to create an inclusive and strong community for everyone. From economic development to recreation facilities, my job as Mayor is to ensure people feel safe, happy and proud to call Stouffville home.

Why would you be good at this job?

I’ve proudly served the residents and businesses in Stouffville since 2006 and most notably served as mayor from 2014 to 2018. As a farmer business owner, I have a passion for agriculture and protecting the environment. My farming business has allowed me to forge incredible connections with many diverse communities in the GTA for over 20 years.

Why should the people of Stouffville share your concerns?

For the protection and benefit of the Town’s residents and businesses, it is essential that we review the Town’s land sale and acquisition practices. As you may be aware, the town is currently being sued for $38 million over the Bethesda Park Lands. Transportation remains an issue for the down, and mobility for all residents should be considered a right and not an option. The Ontario Government is providing $375.6 million to help 107 of the 144 municipalities in Ontario who operate and improve local transit. Our current council has missed their stop and fallen asleep missing all stops to the station. Lastly, our environment is at stake, and the Greenbelt and Oak Ridges Moraine must be protected.

Describe what a successful term with you as a Mayor would accomplish?

To start, the Greenbelt and Oak Ridges Moraine need protection from the current council’s MZO’s. I would ensure that my term would provide connectivity, broadband and high-speed internet for various areas of town where accessibility remains an issue.

I am also committed to creating more access to recreation in our Town and will initiate a joint venture entertainment facility for all ages featuring multi use amenities and activities not limited to a bowling alley, movie theater, and arcade, with the ability to adapt programming.
