What does a School Board Trustee do for the people of Stouffville?
Trustees are representatives of the people. If elected, I will be serving the people of Aurora and Whitchurch-Stouffville. Trustees are stewards of Board resources. They develop district policy and must ensure they are effectively carried out by monitoring the performance of the director of education. As a trustee I will promote student achievement and well-being, and provide the leadership to make sure schools are safe places for students to learn, grow and develop. I will also work with others to ensure that educational programmes are appropriate and effective.

Why would you be good at this job?
I would be good at this job because I am skilled, collaborative, and passionate about the importance of public education to society. I am unafraid of working in challenging situations. I am skilled in building consensus around important issues. I am trained in Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) – useful in mitigating difficult situations. And I will always work on behalf of my constituents.

What issues are you concerned about?
I am concerned about student well-being and belonging, meeting the academic- and social- needs of our students, including students with special needs. Student preparedness in effective communication, science, technology, and the arts. Community relations to inspire public confidence and trust in the YRDSB.

Why should the people of Stouffville share your concerns?
The concerns I have shared, I have also heard from parents and community members. They include effective school district leadership and governance, academic excellence, safe schooling environment, and student and parents feeling that they belong.

Describe what a successful term with you as School Board Trustee would accomplish?
A successful term for me would include parents and community feeling that I represented them well. That the school district will move further along the continuum of trusted relationship with its various communities, and we deliver on the Multi-Year Strategic Plan of the district.
