- A fill application for LaFarge was approved and Staff will begin drafting the final agreement. LaFarge is looking to increase fill operations for a portion of their York Durham Line site over 8 to 16 years, resulting in a landform suitable for agricultural uses.
- LaFarge could not commit to constructing a northbound York Durham left turn lane within a year to accommodate increased traffic, saying they need to get approvals from the Region first.
- They are eager to see the lane constructed as soon as possible, as truck traffic cannot increase until the lane is constructed.
- Councillor Sherban asked LaFarge’s representative what they would do with fill if it was found to be contaminated with invasive species, expressing concerns over threats to local agriculture. LaFarge does not have a plan but said they would take it back for consideration.

- Council passed the Private Tree Preservation and Protection By-Law to address net reduction in tree canopy coverage due to new developments typically removing mature trees.
- In order to protect private, mature, and heritage trees, applicants proposing new developments must submit Landscape Plans identifying trees on the property. If mature trees can not stay on site, they are to be moved elsewhere within the site or onto nearby public lands.
- The By-Law prohibits the removal of heritage trees, and compensation from the applicant can be required in the form of them planting replacement trees or providing cash-in-lieu to do so.
