- A new Ward 4 park is in the planning stages for a parcel northeast of Baker Hill Boulevard and Brownsberger Road.
- The 1.2-hectare public space will be positioned to the east of an existing woodlot and west of the future YRDSB Stouffville Elementary School.
- The Town has undergone an early visioning process, resulting in two conceptual designs:
- Amenities under consideration include play structures, a basketball court, a winter skating rink, pickle ball and tennis courts, open green space, a disc golf course, exercise equipment, a pavilion, and pathways.
- “The development of the park’s design will be a collaborative effort, involving consultations with the community to ensure a successful outcome that aligns with the evolving needs of the residents,” the project’s cometogetherws.ca website explains. “Throughout the design development process, careful consideration will be given to the budget, site limitations, and operational requirements.”
- Residents can participate in the consultation process through a brief but comprehensive survey.
- Contact information for Town Staff working on the project is also available on the project website linked above.
- Following the consultation process, further design work will commence with the hopes of beginning construction this spring.
- The park is expected to open later this fall.
