- Stouffville mental health advocate and YouSpoken founder Thivya Jeyapalan helped bring the group’s Bracelets of Hope event to the Stouffville Leisure Centre last weekend.
- As bracelets were distributed, YouSpoken gathered ideas and suggestions for strengthening mental health supports in the Stouffville community.
- Local registered psychotherapist Lynsday Thompson also joined the YouSpoken team as they engaged in conversations with residents.
- “There were many valuable discussions about mental health in general and what type of community supports work best for local demographics,” Jeyapalan said of the feedback they received.
- “We intend to share this information with Mayor Lovatt and Stouffville’s Councillors at an upcoming Council meeting,” she added.
- Bracelets of Hope will also be distributed to various Stouffville community hubs, including local schools, senior homes, and therapy circles.
- “We are grateful for the support of over 100 volunteers who helped create these bracelets, and we eagerly anticipate the next event YouSpoken will host in Stouffville,” Jeyapalan concluded.
