Two community Halloween celebrations are set to bring a mix of spooky fun and family-friendly festivities to Stouffville this weekend, featuring downtown trick-or-treating and a haunted house experience at the local fire station.

Main Street will transform on Saturday, October 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., for the town’s annual Halloween on Main celebration. The event will go ahead rain or shine, with residents encouraged to don their best costumes.

More than 30 local businesses will hand out candy to trick-or-treaters while supplies last, and activities will be spread throughout Main Street and Civic Square. Families can take part in pumpkin decorating, a spider maze, roaming performances, Paint-a-Bus, free face painting and glitter tattoos, and a variety of seasonal photo opportunities.

Inside 19 on the Park, visitors can explore the “spooky magic” of theatre through interactive demonstrations, according to the Town. The Stouffville Library and Latcham Art Centre will also be hosting creative, Halloween-themed activities for children.

To accommodate the event, Main Street will be closed from Park Drive to the east side of Market Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. No parking will be permitted in the closed area from 2 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day. The Town recommends visitors use free parking available at 6240 Main Street and in the community lot on Park Drive across from Latcham Hall.

The Halloween excitement continues on Sunday, October 26, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., when Station 5-1 opens its doors for Halloween at the Fire Station. Located at 100 Weldon Road, the event is hosted by the Whitchurch-Stouffville Professional Fire Fighters Association with support from Stouffville’s Fire and Emergency Services division.

Guests will enter through the station’s front doors, offering a monetary or food donation for the Whitchurch Stouffville Food Bank as the price of entry. Inside, visitors will follow a haunted-house-style path before emerging in the main bay, where they can meet firefighters, explore firetrucks, and learn more about the equipment used in local emergency response.

The annual event combines Halloween thrills with community spirit, continuing Stouffville firefighters’ tradition of supporting charitable causes through family events and seasonal fundraisers.
