• After a tough away loss to the Haliburton County Huskies last Sunday, the Stouffville Spirit are preparing for their first December home game this Saturday night.
  • The Spirit outshot the Huskies 23-20 in the defensive battle, and a third period goal by defenceman Andoni Fimis saw them tied 1-1.
  • But Stouffville could not respond following a late Huskies goal, losing 2-1 and falling to #9 in the East Conference Ontario Junior Hockey League rankings.
  • The now 13-9-3 Spirit will look to rebound in their face off tomorrow against the #4 Cobourg Cougars, currently sporting a 17-8-3 record.
  • “Cobourg is a very good hockey team, and we’re looking forward to a great game on Saturday night,” Spirit Coach TJ Hill said to Bullet Point News. “Our focus this week has been on doing what we have to do to be at our best come puck-drop.”
  • The team is welcoming Myles Yearwood, a power forward out of Toronto looking to make a statement in his debut tomorrow night. He comes to Stouffville from the Central Canada Hockey League’s Kemptville 73 squad.
  • “We are happy to have Myles on our team. He adds a lot of skill and speed to our line-up and we’re excited to see him play for us,” Coach Hill added.
  • The Spirit will also be supporting the Whitchurch Stouffville Food Bank throughout their December home games, donating proceeds from their 50/50 draws to the local organization.
  • Attendees can visit the Food Bank’s table in the lobby where they will be accepting food and monetary donations. A list of their most needed food items for the holiday season can be found on their website.
  • “We are so appreciative of the Stouffville Spirit’s ongoing support,” Food Bank Co-Chair Susan Smith told us. “They are all talented hockey players with huge hearts.”
  • The game starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Stouffville Arena on Saturday, December 9.
