- Environment Canada and the Province of Ontario have issued a special air quality alert for much of southern Ontario, including Stouffville.
- There is high risk of deteriorating air quality due to the abnormally hot and sunny conditions we are experiencing.
- Increased ozone concentrations can result in respiratory symptoms such as coughing, throat irritation, headaches, and/or shortness of breath.
- Anyone experiencing symptoms should consider postponing strenuous outdoor activities until the alert has been lifted.
- “Exposure to air pollution is particularly a health concern for people with heart or breathing problems, those with diabetes, children, and the elderly,” the alert notes.
- A return to moderate risk is expected this evening through tomorrow, with an expected return to low risk on Saturday evening.
- Residents can track weather alerts and see if the warning has been lifted here.
