Council voted against a Main Street garbage drop-off site, siding with Staff and leaving Village businesses to secure private waste collection by 2026.
Village Advisory Committee to Replace Chamber-Led Business Area Supports
Stouffville is establishing the committee to support and promote Downtown Main Street and its businesses. The move follows the Chamber of Commerce’s June decision to end an existing memorandum of understanding with the Town, which sees them acting in a similar capacity.
New Convertus Biogas Facility to Slash York Region Waste Costs and Emissions
The plant is part of a $490 million contract with York Region to process up to 140,000 tonnes of organic green bin materials annually. The transition to local processing is projected to save the Region $85 million and cut CO2 emissions by approximately 15,000 tonnes every year.
Stouffville To Conduct Comprehensive Residential Parking Review
Council has directed Staff to investigate solutions for ongoing residential parking infractions and limited parking availability. Common complaints include vehicles obstructing sidewalks and roadways and excessive hardscaping of yards to create additional parking spaces.
