The Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library’s Maker Festival offers an opportunity for residents of all ages to come together as a community and learn, innovate, and engage their creative talents and interests.
Technology-focused activities will include coding sessions and a robotics drop-in. Children can interact with small Ozobot robots, which introduce them to coding basics.
The artistically minded will enjoy the event’s Paper Making and String Therapy Needle Arts stations, and families can bring their kids to the Lego, origami, and paper plane design sessions.
There will also be a Makerspace centred on Halloween costume design and cosplay for those looking to get a head start on the spooky season.
Timed competitions will also be on offer for those interested, including a robotics challenge and water bottle rockets activity.
“We aim to create a space in our community for people to learn and develop their skills, regardless of age,” Library CEO Margaret Wallace said in a recent press release. “The Library is more than just a place for books; it’s a community hub for learning, creativity, and growth.”
The event is free and open to all, taking place at the Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library on Saturday, September 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
