The 2023 Statement of Remuneration and Expenses for Members of Council, Committees, and Local Boards report was received for information, as was detailed in a piece earlier this week.
Council approved two household paint and light bulb drop-off events in 2024. Their decision stems from a request by the Stouffville Lions Club for greater local waste disposal facilities.
A resolution put forward by Mayor Iain Lovatt seeking increased Federal infrastructure funding to keep pace with population growth was endorsed.
2023 Drinking Water Annual and Summary Reports were received.
The Ballantrae and Musselman’s Lake distribution system received a perfect 100% inspection score.
The central Stouffville Distribution System received an inspection rating of 94.12% and a Risk Rating of 5.88%.
This marks a lower result compared to 2022’s 100% rating due to a mistake made in processing a microbiological sample.
Staff training followed, along with a commitment to properly complete future tests.
Two incidents of adverse water quality arose in 2023 within the Stouffville Distribution System:
A May 2 sample taken on Chasmer Court found Total Coliform and E. coli bacteria at levels exceeding Provincial standards.
An October 28 sample taken on Lloyd Street found levels of Total Coliform in excess of Provincial standards.
Stouffville flushed the system on May 3 and November 2 to address both cases.
Subsequent retests were within Provincial drinking water standards, and no further action was required.
Council authorized Staff to pursue a new contractual agreement with an unnamed vendor for the provision of a pumper apparatus fire truck.
The Town has struggled to identify a vendor who can deliver the equipment in a timely manner and within its ~$900,000 budget.
Coming in under budget, an $80,084.09 contract was awarded to Oaken Holdings Inc. for the supply and delivery of a four-ton mini excavator.
$125,000 for the excavator was approved through the 2024 Capital Budget process.
