Stouffville is hosting a public meeting to discuss the health and challenges faced by Musselman’s Lake and other local kettle lakes.
Anyone interested in submitting questions or concerns in advance of the event can do so through the Come Together Whitchurch-Stouffville event page.
Attending residents can learn about the impacts of urban influences, such as water pollution, nutrient enrichment, and invasive species, and how these factors affect the lake’s well-being, the website explains.
Musselman’s Lake sits within the Lake Simcoe watershed, and representatives from the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) will be in attendance to provide their expertise and answer questions.
Recent development applications have raised concerns about lake health impacts, and significant algae blooms earlier this summer have also been worrisome.
The 7 p.m. meeting will take place on September 11 at the Ballantrae Community Centre, located at 5592 Aurora Road.
