- The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville is bringing back Toys for Tickets, a holiday campaign allowing residents to donate toys, gifts, and food as payment for parking tickets received between December 1 and 15.
- Donation suggestions include children’s toys, non-perishable food items, gift certificates, and clothing for infants and children. All donations must be new and in their original packaging.
- The before-tax value of the donated gifts or toys must be equal to or greater than the amount stated on your Parking Infraction Notice. The infraction notice and proof of purchase for the donated items must be presented at the time of your donation.
- The program works in conjunction with the Stouffville Lions Club Toy Drive and the Fire & Emergency Services Department’s efforts to support the Whitchurch-Stouffville Food Bank. The two groups will be managing distribution of received donations accordingly.
- Over the last five years, the program has seen approximately $4,000 in parking fine payments converted to charitable giving. However, the Town put it on hiatus in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- “This program has been a staple in our Town for 20 years now and provides a unique way to make the holidays a little brighter for families in our community,” Mayor Iain Lovatt said in a recent press release. “In our community, generosity is a way of life, making Stouffville a truly, special place to live and work.”
- Toys for Tickets donations will be accepted Monday to Friday, from December 1 to December 18. Residents can bring their donations, proof of purchase, and Infraction Notice to the Town’s Municipal Offices located at 111 Sandiford Drive between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
