Following the recent development and approval of the role’s candidate evaluation criteria, York Region District School Board (YRDSB) has formally begun their search for a new Director of Education (DoE).
The DoE is the YRDSB’s Chief Education Officer and Chief Executive Officer tasked with the organization and operation of the Board’s education system.
The Director focuses on improving student success and well-being, stewarding Board finances and resources, implementing Board strategic plans, and supporting the Board of Trustees and YRDSB’s senior leadership team.
Indigenous Trustee Lauri Hoeg expressed happiness with how well the role’s approved profile matches Board objectives and public feedback. “It does a really good job of aiming us toward exactly where we want to go,” she said.
With the job posting going live soon, YRDSB hopes to begin a first round of interviews sometime next month, formally select the top candidate at a Board meeting on June 6, and onboard the new Director in July.
The new DoE will assume the role from Interim Director Scott Yake, who temporarily assumed the position following the conclusion of past Director Louise Sirisko’s five year term.
