• In what Mayor Lovatt called the “world record fastest Council meeting we have ever had in our history,” Stouffville’s Council wrapped up last night’s meeting in just over five minutes. All agenda items were adopted on consent and without deliberations.
  • Council approved changes to the Town’s budget process and timelines, which will fall in line with newly enacted Strong Mayor Powers. A flow chart of the adopted process and shortened timelines can be found here.
  • A memorandum was received to postpone the adoption of Stouffville’s new Official Plan, which we covered in a recent piece.
  • An exemption request from the Draft Plan of Condominium process for the LivGreen I development underway at 5917 Main Street was granted by Council. Staff believe all concerns have been addressed, and that “there is no need to proceed through additional approvals or review process to facilitate the completion and sale of this development.”
  • The Town’s Emergency Response Plan and By-law were updated with only minor changes.
  • A new agreement with York Region was approved which will continue allowing them access to monitoring wells located on Fire Station 5-2 lands at 15400 Highway 48.
  • Council moved ahead with confidential recommendations from Staff following a closed session discussing litigation or potential litigation facing the municipality or local board and a proposed or pending acquisition or disposition of land for municipal or local board purposes. No details were reported out regarding the discussed matters.
  • Councillors Kroon and Smith attended the meeting virtually, and Councillor Bartley sent his regrets. All other members were in attendance in Council Chambers.
