- The Indian community of Stouffville celebrated Diwali, the Festival of Lights, on November 18 at the Ballantrae Community Centre.
- Hosted by Indians of Stouffville, the Diwali Gala brought over 200 local residents and their families together.
- A sumptuous vegetarian lunch buffet was followed by cultural performances, including dances and live music featuring talented local kids and adults.
- Various vendors and stores provided shopping opportunities, including Singh Beans, Naira Fashions, Zaver by Neelu, Embark Education Solutions, and 360 Camera Crew.
- Telus was the event’s Platinum sponsor, with additional support from Stouffville’s Code Ninjas and Brampton’s FinKey Solutions, who were Gold Sponsors.
- Indians of Stouffville was formed by a group of Stouffville residents with the goal of bringing the community together for a fun and memorable Diwali celebration.
- Following the success of this year’s Diwali festivities, Indians of Stouffville are planning an even larger celebration in April to commemorate Indian New Year’s days, which vary based on different regions of India.
- The team hopes to secure a larger venue to accommodate more community members, and additional events are already in the planning stages.
