Metrolinx recently informed Bullet Point News that they anticipate a late fall opening for the new Old Elm GO station on Tenth Line.
We also inquired about the return of off-peak weekday service, which was suspended in April to accommodate maintenance work and construction projects along the Stouffville GO line.
“We will continue to monitor our schedules and ridership closely and will adjust GO train service on the Stouffville line based on customer demand,” Metrolinx told us.
As we reported last week, Metrolinx has resumed some off-peak weekday train service along the Stouffville line, but only to Mount Joy.
Curious about whether the return of off-peak service now depends solely on ridership demand, we asked if the construction and maintenance projects affecting Stouffville riders were complete or nearing completion.
“Work to perform important upgrades, capital, and infrastructure maintenance projects is still underway,” they replied.
With ongoing construction projects and the suggestion that sufficient demand must exist to warrant the reinstatement of the lost train service, Stouffville residents continue to lack an estimated service return date.
