• Council met on February 1st and covered a range of important items.
  • York Region gave a presentation regarding their 2023 Automated Speed Enforcement Cameras program. A camera will be placed on Ninth Line by Glad Park Public School until March.
  • A presentation covering Stouffville’s Reconciliation and Engagement Plan was provided, and Council approved its implementation.
  • Council received an update report on the Whistle Cessation Program for urban rail crossings at Main Street, Hoover Park, and Reeves Way. They supported adding a related introductory project to the 2023 Draft Capital Budget on consent, which is to be approved in March.
  • Council will include a pedestrian crossing near the GO station on Main Street in the 2023 Draft Capital Budget.
  • Council was presented with and endorsed a Land Use Study and Urban Design Guidelines for the Old Elm Major Transit Station Area on 10th Line. They will forward the related Official Plan amendment to York Region for approval.
  • A subdivision application for the Smart Centres South site at Sam’s Way and Highway 48 was received, and Council approved the commencement of fill operations for the Treasure Hill development on Bethesda.
