• Residents have been shocked by water bills following installation of more sensitive Neptune meters.
  • The new meters catch small leaks not always seen by the previous units, which can lead to very expensive and often surprising bills.
  • Thankfully, ratepayers will soon have an online portal showing their real-time water usage.
  • This “will help residents monitor water consumption at home or away and avoid costly leaks,” Brian Kavanaugh, Director of Public Works, told Bullet Point News.
  • “[The portal] will also allow residents to set and receive leak alerts,” Kavanaugh said, assisting in limiting water waste and threat of extreme bills.
  • Residents can expect this portal to go live in the coming months.
